Malden

Malden is a welcoming city located just North of Boston. Accessible via public transportation, bike, and car, it offers a unique array of activities, people, history, eating establishments, cultural experiences, and car-free living - for those who work in and around Boston.

Some say you can "taste the world in Malden". This is indeed well-founded as you can find cuisine from Ethiopia, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Mexico, Italy, the Caribean, Morocco, France via Korea, and more.

Another distinct feature of Malden is its active GAMING DISTRICT, encompassing many forms of play: digital and physical. This began with the first US site for the famous Boda Borg - which began in Sweden. Now a draw for thousands of people of all ages, eager to challenge their mental, physical, and communication skills as they go through the various room courses, this source of great fun is only one of many opportunities to have fun together in Malden..

Malden has many parks. Some well-used for their proximity and beautiful design and/or view. Fellsmere Pond, a delightful place to walk, picnic, hear a concert, watch the geese and ducks, fish (though don't eat the fish), do Tai Chi in the morning, or have a lovely conversation with a friend in a peaceful setting, was designed by the famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Waitts Mount, a favorite place to look at the stars, gives  anice skyline view of Boston.

Other significant draws - which many are not familiar with - is the beautiful Malden Public Library and its extensive art collection. A museum in of itself, this treasure trove is available at certain times and by tour request.

Rich with history, hills, the Malden River, interesting industry, and a consistent wave of immigration, Malden is dynamic. Currently, 42% of Malden residents were born outside of the United States. Over 60 languages are spoken at the public high school. This diversity is something the City continues to work with to enhance the services and positive outcomes of this rich variety of culture, language, country of origin, and life experience. In a way, this makes Malden a model city for how to manage differences and leverage that which is similar to the benefit of community.

Malden has two Orange line stops: Oak Grove and Malden Center. It also has a commuter rail stop.

Parking exists in various lots and on the street (meters payable with credit card, coins, and/or app)
